Hiking in the Zádiel Gorge and Surroundings: A Weekend in the Embrace of Nature
Last weekend, we had the opportunity to explore one of Slovakia's most beautiful natural treasures, the Zádiel Gorge (Zádielska tiesňava), as well as the nearby Háj Valley waterfalls (Hájske vodopády). These two days provided a refreshing escape into the fresh air and stunning sights. In this post, I’ll share our experiences and some interesting facts about these locations. Day One: Hiking in the Zádiel Gorge We started our first day in the famous Zádiel Gorge, which is part of the Slovak Karst (Slovenský kras). Over millions of years, the Blatnica Stream carved the gorge, constantly shaping the valley as it flowed through the limestone cliffs. The gorge’s towering walls, reaching up to 300 meters in some places, provide a breathtaking view, making the area a true geological wonder.
